Half Day Photography Workshop (Morning) - Two Hour Practical (Afternoon)

New to photography? Or maybe just bought a new camera and wonder what all those knobs and dials are for or all those menu items? Maybe you are a little more advanced and want to know how to get the best out of your camera, or wish to make your images more interesting? Then these are the workshops for you. Award winning photographer Gary Latham has designed these easy to understand workshops especially for you!

Workshop One:

Technical Workshop : We will go through the basics of photography and the camera settings, enabling you to take control of your camera, de-mystify the difference between Manual and Auto photography. Explaining the ISO, Exposure, f/stops, Shutter Speeds and how to use the Light Meter. Image formats will all be explained, shooting in RAW over JPG .

Workshop Two:

Creative Workshop : How to take better pictures. How to make images more interesting. Practical information on composition, how to use depth of field and shutter speed creativley, understanding different lighting conditions and which lenses to use for different subjects and why.

Workshop Three:

Digital photography is a two-part process, capturing the image and editing or processing it into the best version of the image that you captured. To that end, this session is an introduction to Adobe Lightroom, a powerful editing and processing platform that will enable you to realise the full potential of the digital image.

What the workshops will include:

  • Understanding your camera - what do all these buttons do?

  • How to get to grips with the digital menu and set up your camera to meet your needs

  • Shooting RAW files or JPG files - which is best?

  • Photographic instruction on how to shoot in Aperture Priority with manual override and full manual shooting modes.

  • Understanding ISO, f/stop and Shutter Speed and how they work together.

  • Better image composition, tricks and tips for creating more interesting images.

  • Depth of field and how to use it.

  • Shutter Speed and how to use it creatively.

  • Practical photography session around Ramsgate

  • Introduction to Adobe Lightroom - digital workflow and how to get the best from your RAW digital images.
